Whether I’m walking the trails, driving down a back road or just looking out the window, the colors of winter are a constant inspiration. Snow reflects any color depending on the angle of view and time of day, and even without snow the landscape is rich with the colors of jewels. Even interiors are different as the leafless trees admit more light and the sun, at its lower winter angle, fills rooms with clear, stark light. local trails 4. I have actually drawn many while standing out in the open and also while sitting in the front seat of my car, but sometimes the best view can only be had by a precarious balance on a rock in the creek or from the median of four lanes of moving traffic, and at this point I take a quick photo and do my best to recall the scene later. My overall task with these is to capture a small scene and a single moment of light and shadow, weather and season. old farms 9.
