Nature: a canoe trip to the ohio river
Chartiers Creek is the largest navigable waterway leading to the Ohio River in the Pittsburgh area, and a group of us canoe it on a regular basis. Usually we stop at McKees Rocks, where the Chartiers enters the Ohio River, but this September afternoon was so perfect, and it only took us about 90 minutes to paddle from Crafton to McKees Rocks, that we decided it was safe to proceed. It would be the same path many Native Americans would have traveled for centures to take their goods from the summer hunting grounds in the Greater Ohio Valley to their winter campgrounds in Ohio.
